Special Orders- A Baby Shower

Today, I attended a baby shower for a very, very special lady with my two daughters. Before the shower, I was approached by the godmother about creating a custom baby headband for her soon-to-be-arriving goddaughter. I have to say that I love doing custom orders, because I get the chance to work with someone on making their vision come to life.  For this baby shower, I was asked to do a cute lacy headband with a ducky. I am really pleased at how it turned out, so pleased that I was inspired to create another ducky headband. But, the best part was how pleased the godmother and recipient were.

For those of you who do not know, tomorrow is Veterans' Day! I am and always have been an avid supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces; we are truly blessed to have men and women of such valor willing to fight for us.  I wanted to share with you all this video that was shared with me. It is music written by a 3rd grade school teacher and her husband and being performed by that 3rd Grade Tussing Elementary class. It is truly a moving song and video titled "Thank You Soldiers" .

Also, in honors of Veteran's Day, I am introducing the Liberty Bell Bow. It is a small hair bow on a barrette clip and inspired by all those patriots and loyal people throughout the years that have fought to make liberty possible here in these United States of America. There will be more to come but currently, I am only offering one.

An Untraditional Christmas

Let It Snow Small Layered Flower Bow
& Snowmen Pigtail Bow Pairs
The traditional Christmas colors have always been red and green. I did some research and found out that there was actually a really good reason behind these colors. Red signifies the blood of Christ, and green symbolizes life, as in the eternal life offered by Jesus. I can understand the reasoning behind these colors being synonymous with Christmas and do not promise to try to change this. But, if I have to be honest, SOMETIMES, it is really dull seeing red and green EVERYWHERE (trees, wreaths, ribbon, dresses, Santa hats, Santa suits, poinsettias.... get the point?)

I know that quite a few times, I found myself wishing that I could find just ONE dress that wasn't one of those two colors. Last year for instance, I was trying to find a nice, pretty pink dress. No such luck. Now, Kacey's Princess Bowtique is by no means into the dress making stage (at least not yet), but I am very pleased to announce that I am offering Winter/Christmas bows that breakaway from the traditional color scheme.

Getting An Early Start

Here is a sneak peak of one of our
Christmas headbands.
For the past few days, I have been enjoying...wait for it.... Mint Hot Chocolate. That's right! 100% Andes mint tasting goodness in a Dunkin Donuts cup. So, I am fully in the Christmas mood! I would get my decorations out if my husband wouldn't have a fit because Thanksgiving hasn't passed yet. But, I feel that with Dunkin Donuts serving minty Christmas in a cup and Starbucks serving there yummy coffee in a festive red holiday cup. It is official that the holiday season is creeping up.

What does that mean for Kacey's Princess Bowtique? I am going pedal to the metal on creating holiday products. Keep an eye out for Christmas, Winter, holiday bows, clips and headbands.

Brand New Month, Brand New Products

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween (and was safe). I saw a lot of adorable and scary costumes when we were out trick or treating; I had a lot of fun coordinating my daughters'  (my oldest was Lil' Bo Peep and my 6 month old was a sheep) and watching my oldest run up to the door to get all the candy she can get. (She's a smart cookie, she asked for one for Daddy and Mommy). But, now its a brand new month so its time to move on to newer things.... Winter!!!

A lot of my family and friends have been affected by the intense snow fall in the Northeast, so I am bringing out that wonderful winter symbol that I promised ....Do you remember what it is? That's right! PENGUINS! I am bringing out penguin pigtail bows, large bows, small bows, and hopefully some more headbands. The good news for all you penguin lovers out there is that there will be quite a few penguin products, but sadly, there is only one Penguin with Ice Skates, inspired by one of our readers. For those of you that aren't crazy about penguins, do not fret; there are snowflakes, snow men, poinsettias, presents, and Santa.

Introducing.....

If there every was a classic hair accessory, the little girl in me would have to say it's the headband. When I was in elementary school, I wore it everyday, in school pictures, to birthday parties, to church, etc. I wasn't fully dressed without my headbands, partly because I had these awful bangs I was growing out, but also because it was so comfortable, easy, and clean looking. The only issue I had with my headbands?  They were so plain. I think the most exciting headband I had was plaid, and let's face is plaid is NOT exciting. The whole point of accessories is to accentuate the personality and natural beauty of the person wearing it. So to rid the world of ugly, boring, plain headbands, I decided that its time to offer something with a little more flair, a little more excitement, a little more fashion, and most importantly a little more personality.

Did You Know?

Did you know that Kacey's Princess Bowtique offers coordinating items? We have 6 inch bows that match pigtail bow pairs as well as other coordinating items. My suggestion? Make it a family affair with matching hair accessories. We are working on being able to provide other types of accessories that you can coordinate with these accessories. Shown to the left is our featured coordinating items. This was inspired by my daughters. We live in south Florida, and I really thought that it would be awesome if when we went out or when we had photos taken, we were wearing matching items. These bows don't have to be used for Mommy, big sister and baby; they can be for two big sisters and the baby, Mommy, aunt, and the baby, or even grandma, mommy, and the baby. Get creative!!! (If you find a way to throw Daddy in the mix let me know!)

New Product- Baby Headbands

In the past 6 months, I feel like I have been surrounded by everything and anything baby. (Partly because of my own precious little angel, but mostly because so many of my friends are having their own blessings). So far, six of my friends have had babies, and five of my friends have received the good news that they are expecting bouncing bundles of joy. Plus, when I was listening to the radio this morning and they kept talking about pregnancy, push presents, and that "New Baby Smell". (The baby smell thing was kind of weird because it reminded me of "new car smell"). Anyway, you have to admit babies smell good, they feel good, and they are just plain adorable. As you can see,  this put me in a baby mood. I don't need a baby; I have my own precious angel. But, I have decided that I am officially declaring it "Baby Season".  Over the past two days, I have been designing baby headbands like crazy.  I have been trying to do bows that are classic looking and cute on little babies. Here are two of the ones that I made today being modeled by my six month old, Charley. These and others are for sale in our Etsy store.

Designs in the Making

If there is one thing I have learned in the past 6 months, it is that being a mother of two, a wife, a student, and an employee is exhausting; however, I am blessed to have something that I love that I can do to help me relax and take it slow. That thing is creating. I have been working hard on being able to offer more variety of bow-themed accessories, potentially even headbands and/or clutches. I have also been working diligently on some winter themed designs. (my work area is shameful right now) Anyway, I have decided that one of the most important thing about a product is that it has to have some sort of inspiration that it stems from and has to speak to the person. The one thing that speaks out winter to me more than anything else is honestly a tie between two things: penguins (but there aren’t many of those in the US other than zoos) and snowflakes (which there really aren't many in Florida). So basically, I don't get a winter. But, because penguins are one of my favorite animals (always dressed to impress), I can guarantee they will be joining the bow collections and bringing a wintery essence to all those who, like me, miss out on snow. What are some other winter items you would like to see on your bows?

New and Upcoming Products

We've decided to expand our product line to include sports inspired hair accessories.  Here is one of our football inspired 6 inch hair bows. It was inspired by the Jupiter Mustangs, but also is great for Washington Redskins, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Mississippi State University, Wells College, Texas A&M University, and Southern Illinois University.
Within the next couple of days, we will be offering a variety of autumn inspired accessories, followed by our Christmas and Winter theme bows. We also plan on offering new types of accessories. Keep an eye out for our new products.
